HARNESSING
THE POWER OF AI

ADNOC is becoming the AI powerhouse of the energy sector

Today, we stand at the intersection of energy and AI. AI needs energy to function and increasingly, energy production needs AI. At ADNOC, we are powering the growth of the AI revolution while embedding the solutions it offers our business. That is why we have launched ENERGYai – a company-wide strategy to drive efficiency, sustainability and growth across our operations while equipping our colleagues with the skills to take full advantage of the technology’s potential.

Our “ENERGYai Lab” will drive disruptive innovation

AI solutions helped us generate $500 million in 2023. Now we’re bringing in top data scientists and experts to work together in our ENERGYai Lab, which is rapidly prototyping solutions for the energy sector. We are currently exploring up to 15 accelerated proof of concepts and 3 innovative breakthroughs.

Discover how ENERGYai is helping to increase efficiency, reduce emissions and keep our people safe.

Maximize well stability

AIQ RoboWell is an autonomous well control system that maximizes productivity, safety, and stability. It uses cloud-based algorithms to autonomously run wells that self-adjust according to the conditions, significantly reducing well movement and gas lift, and most importantly reducing safety risks for humans visiting the sites.

Reduction in downtime

As an innovative solution that autonomously monitors performance of critical equipment, Neuron 5 helps reduce operational downtime and boosts efficiency by reducing the need for time-consuming manual inspections. It has the potential to cut the number of unplanned shutdowns by 50%, using advanced AI models and deep learning algorithms to predict maintenance needs and monitor the performance of equipment.

Data-driven diagnostic

Centralized Predictive Analytics and Diagnostics (CPAD) uses AI to keep our operations running smoothly. It tracks historic and real-time data and diagnoses anomalies, so we can proactively address maintenance challenges. Since deploying CPAD, we have been able to create a safer and more stable work environment for our employees by halving the number of unplanned shutdowns and decreasing planned maintenance in our upstream operations by a third.

Optimize in real-time

Integrated Real Time Optimizers (iRTO) balances operating data, utility costs, and product prices in real-time to maximize the production of natural gas liquids across all our processing facilities. By minimizing emissions and maximizing product value we can support the growth of our workforce and contribute to a more sustainable operation for all.

Forecast for efficiency

At our retail arm, ADNOC Distribution, the Smart Fuel Demand Prediction Model forecasts the needs of thousands of customers every day. It combines historical and real-time data with deep learning neural networks, ensemble methods, and forecasting techniques to predict and meet future fuel demand with 95% accuracy. It also cuts total fuel truck emissions by 10%, moving us closer to our net zero goal by 2045.
