HARNESSING
THE POWER OF AI

ADNOC is becoming the AI powerhouse of the energy sector

Today, we stand at the intersection of energy and AI. AI needs energy to function and increasingly, energy production needs AI. At ADNOC, we are powering the growth of the AI revolution while embedding the solutions it offers our business. That is why we have launched ENERGYai – a company-wide strategy to drive efficiency, sustainability and growth across our operations while equipping our colleagues with the skills to take full advantage of the technology’s potential.

Our “ENERGYai Lab” will drive disruptive innovation

AI solutions helped us generate $500 million in 2023. Now we’re bringing in top data scientists and experts to work together in our ENERGYai Lab, which is rapidly prototyping solutions for the energy sector. We are currently exploring up to 15 accelerated proof of concepts and 3 innovative breakthroughs.

AI at work

ADNOC and AIQ develop ENERGYai, a first-of-its-kind agentic AI solution for global energy transformation.

Autonomizing with AI agents

Developed by ADNOC and AIQ in collaboration with Microsoft and G42, ENERGYai uses specialized AI agents trained on our proprietary data to autonomously perform complex tasks, such as seismic analysis, real-time process monitoring and reservoir modeling. Bringing in a new level of precision and autonomy, these agents help in driving operational efficiency and resilience across the energy value chain.

Development planning

RockInsight is an AI-powered solution that helps us analyze oil and gas reservoirs buried deep underground and responsibly harness our nation’s resources. The solution visualizes every subsurface rock grain and pore in detail and provides high-precision results – accelerating analysis, enhancing efficiency and optimizing resources.

Real-time reservoir data

A data-driven intelligent reservoir management solution, AR360 consolidates data from multiple platforms into a single platform, streamlining workflows and enabling informed decisions. Through advanced data analysis, AR360 optimizes field development planning by balancing new well drilling, improving existing well performance, and optimizing production. This ultimately leads to increased well life and recovery rates.

Forecasting sand patterns

With Remal, an AI-powered solution, we are solving the challenges of sand accumulation at Shah Field in the Empty Quarter. This AI-enabled solution forecasts sand accumulation patterns in the area and optimizes resource allocation and productivity. Since implementation, we have realized significant benefits including reduction of costs as well as enhanced safety and productivity.

Remote operations

Transforming the oil and gas operations, ADNOC’s well digitalization program is a key step in our strategy to automate our operations across the value chain. The program enables remote monitoring and automated operation by equipping wells with sensors and control valves to collect real-time data, which is transmitted via a private 5G network to a control room – leading to enhanced efficiency, improved safety, and reduced downtime.

Product delivery

Coordinating shipments demands the highest level of precision. Our AI-powered Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) supports vessel planners by providing optimal route options – enabling them to make proactive, data-driven decisions.

Deploying predictive analytics

Centralized Predictive Analytics and Diagnostics (CPAD) uses AI to keep our operations running smoothly. It tracks historic and real-time data and diagnoses anomalies, so we can proactively address maintenance challenges. Since deploying CPAD, we have been able to create a safer and more stable work environment for our employees by halving the number of unplanned shutdowns and decreasing planned maintenance in our upstream operations by a third.

AI news & announcements - Q4 2024

We’re going further, faster in our AI transformation journey.

ENERGYai progresses

A proof-of-concept trial for ENERGYai is complete. The trial demonstrated that ENERGYai’s agentic AI – AI ‘agents’ that are trained in specific tasks across the energy value chain – can deliver significant improvements in the pace and accuracy of upstream exploration.

ENERGYai at ADIPEC

At ADIPEC 2024 we launched ENERGYai, a world-first agentic AI solution for the energy transformation. Developed in collaboration with AIQ, ENERGYai will unlock innovative solutions across our value chain and ensure we continue to provide secure and sustainable energy to the world.

AR360

We have integrated AR360 into our operations, AIQ’s data-driven intelligent reservoir management solution that consolidates data from multiple platforms into a single platform. This helps us to streamline workflows and enable informed decision-making.

AIQ RockInsight

Introducing RockInsight, an AI-powered solution that visualizes every subsurface rock grain and pore in detail at oil and gas reservoirs deep underground and provides high-precision results – accelerating analysis and enhancing efficiency.

Well Digitalization

We awarded a contract to Jereh Oil and Gas to install remote operation equipment at the Bab, Bu Hasa and Southeast fields, which enables remote monitoring and automated operation of wells, leading to enhanced efficiency, improved safety, and reduced downtime.

ILMS

The Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS), the first completed use case developed by ADNOC’s AI Lab, is now ready for pilot implementation, and is designed to optimize vessel scheduling and ensure timely delivery of products.
