Our 2030 Sustainability Strategy and ambitions set out how we continue to ensure sustainable operations and practices across the businesses, communities, and environments in which we operate.
We adopt a proactive and adaptive marketing model and are developing new trading capabilities to better meet the growing demand for oil, gas and refined products around the world.
Hand-in-hand with our partners, customers, suppliers and others we constantly monitor our emissions and have put in place advanced digital technology for effective emissions management to reduce the impact of our operations on communities and the environment.
We have made great strides towards eliminating flaring of natural gas across our operations, with a 90% reduction in volume of natural gas flared since inception.
The implementation of a zero routine gas flaring policy, in the early 2000s, was a major milestone and we have set a UNEP Gold Standard upstream methane intensity target of 0.15% by 2025, which is the lowest in the Middle East.
Greenhouse Gas intensity target
Thanks to our geology and our targeted investments in efficient reservoir and operations management, we have maintained one of the lowest carbon emissions intensities in the world. We will further reduce the intensity of our GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 and continue to drive innovation to provide cleaner energy.
